Final Cut Pro X the documentary, made through Crowdfunding

The initiative comes from an editor, Bradley Olsen, owner of Fedora Photos. Olsen has worked for: BBC, Spike TV, Hallmark Channel. He has made multiple films with Final Cut Pro X for independent cinema. In the documentary, the history of Apple's editing program is described, starting with the questioned start of the program among professional users. At the end of it, he comments that the program finally has a fairly large audience, since Apple confirmed at the beginning of years that it had reached two million licenses.

Apple's quintessential video editing program just turned 6 years old. In its early days it had almost more detractors than users who bet on this new edition of Apple's professional software. The truth is, the version to date had set the bar very high. Little by little, the program was incorporating more and more professional functions, without leaving aside its essence: almost any Mac is capable of moving the images we want to edit. At present, there are almost ten independent cinema films that have been made with Final Cut Pro X.

Bradley Olsen has turned to Crowdfunding for the making of the documentary. He has raised $ 17.000 himself, when his goal was to reach $ 10.000. Olsen has put all his passion into documentary:

This is not just a documentary about a product made by Apple. It is a study of how people react when a tool on which they depend can lead to changes in their lives. Why do some people freak out and quit the Apple program altogether, while others rallied around FCP X and formed a community?

The documentary features the intervention of famous people in the world of video editing as:

  • Randy ubillos, creator of Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Aperture, iMovie, and Final Cut Pro X.
  • Michael Cioni, Vice President of Innovation for Panavision and Light Iron.
  • Glenn Ficarra, director of the first major Hollywood movie edited in Final Cut Pro X: Focus .
  • Sam mestman, founder of LumaForge, which makes shared storage optimized for Final Cut Pro X and leads to multiple communities of filmmakers.
  • Gergana Angelova, behind the scenes video editor for Expendables 3
  • Peter wiggins, directs FCP.co
