Final Cut Pro X will receive support for ProRes RAW in a few days

Apple has presented a new update that will arrive on the Mac App Store on April 9 of Final Cut Pro X, with which the application reaches version number 10.4.1 introducing support for ProRes RAW, which allows us to combine the visual and workflow benefits of RAW video with the performance of ProRes.

With ProRes RAW, editors can import, edit and classify RAW data material from the camera sensor, making it ideal for HDR workflows. Editors can also edit and play RAW 4K ProRes files on MacBook Pro 2016, 2017, and iMac 2017 in real time no need to render previously

ProRes RAW files are smaller than ProRes 4444 files, allowing for better storage use. Professionals working with Final Cut Pro can work natively with ProRes RAW and ProRes RAW HQ files created by teams at Atomos. This format It will be available as a free update for the Atomos Sumo 19 and Shogun Inferno devices.

The format will also be available as part of an upcoming update package for users of the DJI Inspire 2 drone and Zenmuse X7 Super 35mm camera system designed for aerial shots in movies. Another novelty, we find it in the subtitles. Users can import subtitle files directly into their project or create them from scratch. Subtitles appear in the preview and can be adjusted during playback. Additionally, they can be attached to video or audio clips on the timeline.

A new subtitle inspector makes it easy to adjust text, color, alignment and placement of subtitles. Subtitles can be created in multiple languages within the same timeline and we can quickly share them on YouTube and Vimeo. The Final Cut Pro X version 10.4 update dates back to December 14 last year, an update that brought us new features including full-resolution 8K video editing and expanded 360-degree VR video support for Motion and Compressor mainly.

Final Cut Pro X is priced at the Mac App Store for 329 euros.
