Finally the SSD memory of the Mac Studio cannot be expanded

Mac Studio iFixit

Not long ago we informed you of the good news that had come to light. After users began to receive the Mac Studio, presented on March 8, some adventurers decided to disassemble and see inside. They realized that it was very likely that the SSD memory could be extended by the user himself. However the news was only hope, because It has been confirmed that this is not the case.

Everything arises because when the computer is disassembled, the people who carry it out realize that there is a spare slot on the board in the internal storage module. Plus it can be removed. This suggests that it is likely that the SSD memory could be expanded even by the user himself without having to take the computer to an Apple technical service. Especially considering that Apple launches its own Toolkit.

But it was missing that the disassembly was done by expert hands. The boys and girls of iFixit They have found the key and the news is not very good. It must be said that the memory module cannot be expanded. So our joy in a well.

In its video teardown, iFixit was able to remove the storage module with relative ease (a single Torx screw and some duct tape was all that stood in the way), but ran into several roadblocks trying to swap it out. First, they tried to put it in a free slot in a different Mac Studio, but received DFU restore errors. They tried several times to add storage to an existing machine, but received error messages each time.

What has also been confirmed is that the additional slot is used on higher Mac Studio configurations of 4TB or higher.
