Fixes display and organization errors in the LaunchPad within OS X Yosemite

The Launchpad app has always been a fast and even more recommended way to access apps on Mac dfrom an interface as similar as possible to iOS as are the folders with applications contained in them as icons and the organization in a grid. If you are one of those who use Launchpad on a regular basis and indeed it is already overloaded with applications or not too organized, we may want to start from scratch with the organization.

This can be quite useful if we want to reorganize the way applications are presented but also when it comes to solve certain display problems where errors are shown in the presentation of the icons of said applications since either they do not appear or the icon they refer to is not shown directly. Personally, I am not a big fan of this integrated application of the system since it seems to me more aimed at a touch interface than a computer managed by keyboard and mouse.

In previous versions of OS X, there was a little tip where users could update the Launchpad display using a terminal command that refreshed certain files in the database. However in OS X 10.10 and later versions you have to use a default command string to reset all the contents of the Launchpad.

To do this, we will open the terminal in Applications> Utilities> Terminal and enter the following:

defaults write com.apple.dock ResetLaunchPad -bool true

We will press Enter and immediately afterwards we will introduce:

Kiall Dock

Once this is done we will wait for the system dock to restart and when we open the launchpad again we will see everything as it came "standard" with the Mac. Now we can rearrange the icons and the layout as best suits us.

I have a problem with the launchpad in yosemite, I installed android studio and the launchpad icons no longer look as defined as before, I assumed that when uninstalling android studio it would be solved pro it was not like that, then I updated the OS to 10.4.4 pro even so It was not solved, I tried with several commands to reset and set the launchpad pro x default even so the icons no longer look as defined as before. Any solution ?????
