FlexTech, the new alliance between the Pentagon and certain technology companies

military-technology

If you thought that the companies that are dedicated to creating computing devices for the general population were disconnected from the military world, you were wrong, and it is that the United States Department of Defense has begun to invest a project that will allow them to have the latest technology.

Until now, everything that had to do with military technology was investigated and developed by a special department of a military nature. Now, by The FlexTech project begins an alliance between major Silicon Valley companies and the Pentagon.

We are talking about the fact that the Pentagon itself, through FlexTech, is going to take advantage of the advances that civil technology companies are already developing, thus allowing them to investigate in other fields and thus make much more use of resources. Gone are the parallel investigations both by companies such as Boeing and by the technology department of the United States Army.

Pentagon

As we have told you, the Pentagon itself has reached totally secret agreements with up to 162 companies that are dedicated to the development of technological products and services. Among those companies we can find Apple or Boeing and even Universities like Harvard. It is an alliance between institutions and companies that will make FlexTech take shape.

Ash carter, Secretary of Defense of the United States, has stated:

"I've been pushing the Pentagon to get out of the box, invest in innovation in Silicon Valley and in high-tech communities across the country."

We are aware that one of the first projects in which both the Pentagon and this selection of companies and universities are going to start working is with wearable technology for the military. Technology that can help to know the health status of the soldiers both on board and aircraft.

As for the amount of money that is destined for this alliance, it is estimated at about 170 million dollars over a period of five years. If we break down that amount, we would speak of a contribution of 75 million from the United States government and 90 million from companies, leaving the rest for local governments. These companies will control the Research Laboratory of the United States Air Force.
