Yes, you read correctly, with this application we can gesture control some apps of our Mac, it seems that little by little they are implementing improvements in it and it already has enough possibilities.
Best of all, application is totally free and we can use it with all these applications for now: iTunes, Spotify, Rdio, MPlayerX (latest version), VLC (latest version), Ecoute, Quicktime, and Keynote.
Little by little we hope that they will add more gestures and some more applications, this application can open a range of new possibilities on our Macs, but we already mentioned that in this version 0.3.4 it's being a success and it is sweeping the Mac App Store, it is definitely recommended to try it.
They have recently added support for Rdio and Keynote, now we can use Flutter to pass the presentations by means of gestures made with the keynote application and from a distance "quite far", it is not necessary to be very close to the Mac to use it. This application makes use of the central chamber of our Mac, to be able to interpret the gestures (Kinect type), at the moment they are predefined and we cannot modify them.
For now we can:
- Play / Pause music and videos through simple hand gestures (palm gesture)
- Skip to the next song (right thumb) or go back to the previous song (left thumb)
- Works through your webcam - no additional hardware is required
- The best distance to perform gestures is approximately 30 cm to 1,8 meters away from the camera
- Works even when Spotify, Rdio, iTunes, and other apps are running in the background
The creators ask for our collaboration in the case that we reproduce a bug in the application, we can send error reports to the email address wave@flutterapp.com, with them they hope to improve the application. They promise important improvements for future versions, among others:
- Volume up and down gestures
- YouTube and other supports for Web Applications
- Additional gestures like volume mute control
In the latest update, have also improved detection of the gestures, they are now much more sensitive than in the first version of the application.
