How to force the system to ask for the password for purchases in the MacApp Store

Yesterday we told you what you had to do to keep out all those third-party applications that were having access to your Contacts within the macOS system.

The Apple system, although it is the safest that exists, has certain nuances that we must adjust ourselves by hand. Today I return with another dose of security, in this case, related to the time it takes for the system to ask for the Apple ID password for purchases from the Mac App Store after entering it the first time.

Many are the occasions that we let our computer be used by someone else and it is precisely in those moments that we have to be clear about the security of our equipment and our credentials must be at their maximum level. You have to know that, once we click on the Mac App Store for a certain purchase and put the password of the Apple ID, depending on how we have this option configured, the system will not ask us for that password again in a certain time, so purchases could be made without our permission.

For this reason, we believe it appropriate that you read a couple of more lines in this article and configure the security of your macOS so that it asks you for the password in the time you consider appropriate or that it simply asks you every time you go to make a purchase.

The process to configure this action is very simple and you only have to access System Preferences> Privacy and security> Press on padlock> Enter password to unlock> Advanced .... When you click on the Advanced button ... you will see that a small window is shown in which you have the option to configure only two things:

For the system to ask for the password every time you make a purchase in the Mac App Store, it will be enough to leave the first option unselected. In case you want to register a time so that it does not ask for the password until that time has elapsed, you must select the option and then choose the time.

Many of you have surely wondered why there are times when it always asks us for the password and then on other occasions we enter it once and it serves successive times. The key is in what we have shown you previously.
