Four Australian banks come out against Apple and its Apple Pay

Australia today has the Apple Pay service established in many banks in the country, but there are four of these entities that are opposing the clauses of use of this service: Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Westpac Banking Corporation, National Australia Bank and the Bendigo and Adelaide Bank, which they absolutely refuse to give in to the strict rules of the Apple Pay payment service and want the NFC to be opened. In this case they have drawn up and sent to the ACCC a 137-page document in which it is argued that Apple is acting in a "intransigent, closed and too controlled" manner.

With this refusal, what they want so that we all understand it more clearly, is to allow the use of NFC for payment with Apple devices with other services offered by banks totally unrelated to Apple Pay. Obviously this is something that we do not believe will happen since on other occasions the Cupertino company already said that the NFC with Apple Pay was closed to protect users against security threats and that their "Hardware, software and services such as Apple Pay are fully integrated with each other to offer the best possible security to the user."

This is a conflict that has been on the table for a long time and obviously it is a claim for the users of these banking entities to be able to choose whether or not to use Apple Pay, since in this case they do not have that possibility and therefore the banks squeeze the company of Tim Cook, through this type of confrontation that has even led them to the ACCC (Australian Competition and Consumer Commission) to give in to the opening of the NFC. It remains to be seen what the ACCC responds to in this case.
