Go back to the hard esc key on MacBook Pro with TouchBar

Go back to the physical escape key on the MacBook Pro

Now that the new 16-inch MacBook Pro has been released, one of the advantages of this new device is that the physical key of esc has been put back. Due to user recommendations, Apple has decided to include it again.

But if you have a model without that key and you are a little fed up with the TouchBar for these purposes, there is a very easy way to get the physical key back, without having to buy Apple's new MacBook.

Recover the esc key on your MacBook Pro

The esc key is quite essential for the Mac. It is used a lot. For example to exit a window, view or a text field, among many other utilities. However Apple removed it when it introduced the TouchBar.

Many users since then, 2016, have asked the company to take back that key. Apple has listened to them and in the new 16-inch MacBook Pro, it has recovered it. However the computer is not cheap to say and more if you recently bought a model.

There is a solution to get the physical key back. It's not as easy as if it were there, but it's better than the TouchBar. We are going to reuse the Caps Lock key and make it an Escape key.

Just open the System Preferences app on your Mac and go to the Keyboard panel. A then click the Modifier Keys button at the bottom right of the window. This also works for external keyboards.

Let's assign the new function to the Caps LOCK. That easy. But it seems incredible that something similar has to be done at this point. The good thing is that you save a lot of money. The downside is that we have to lose the original function of the lock.
