Google will remove support for Chrome apps on Mac

apps-chrome

This is one of those news that does not surprise seeing the path that Google is taking in recent years and that is that by the beginning of 2018 Google will eliminate support for Chrome applications in the Mac browser. In this way, Mac users will be unable to load the applications becoming exclusive for Chrome OS users. This measure will begin to be taken for Mac, Windows and Linux users at the end of next year, so in principle they will be operational until that date and then they will officially stop working at the beginning of 2018.

The truth is that few users are those who use these applications called Chrome apps that are in the browser "anchored" which translates to 1% of active users. This figure is really low considering the number of users who use Google Chrome as a browser, which has undoubtedly been seen as a failure in the company and they have decided to do without these apps.

The truth is that although it is true that the idea was good and at first it seemed that it would be a success, in the end everything has come to nothing and it is hoped with this movement that the entire browser is easier to use, eliminating functions that they consume machine resources and nobody uses them. On the other hand, those developers who want to continue offering or developing extensions they will be able to do it the same on any platform be it OS X, Windows or Linux.
