Helium allows us to activate the PIP of iOS 9 in OS X

The first gesture that Apple introduced in the iPad to be able to demonstrate that this device is ideal for work, was the arrival of the Split View function, which allows us to work with two applications together on the iPad screen, adjusting the size of each application so that both of them distribute the available space.

But along with the Split View feature, Apple also introduced the ability to enjoy videos using a floating window, the so-called Picture-in-Picture function, better known as PIP. All applications that are compatible with this function, including browsers, allow us to float, never better said, the video that we are watching at that moment on our iPad.

This function is ideal especially when we want to see our emails while visiting the latest chapter of our favorite series, or while consulting our Twitter or Facebook account. Natively, maybe Apple will include it in the next version of OS X, we cannot perform this same function on our Mac, a function that can be used a lot, as I have commented previously and that we currently carry out on our iPad, as long as it is compatible.

If we want to enjoy our internet videos through a floating window on our Mac while we do a job or simply consult any information, the Helium app is ideal, if not the only option available. This application opens a window in the form of a browser where we have to enter the web address where the video is located and adjust the size of the window to adapt it to our needs.

In this way and if we also use the Split View function of OS X, we can say that we work with three applications at the same time, something that personally if I have done when I have to analyze a video to write about it.

Helium is available on the Mac App Store completely free of charge. There are hardly any configuration options, other than adjusting the application so that it is always visible on all desktops and the size of the window to adjust the viewing. Helium is compatible from OS X 10.10 and 64-bit processor. It is only available in English and occupies a little less than 4 MB. An indispensable application for our Mac.
