Smart speakers have become a member of many families. As the months go by, the number of families that adopt a smart speaker is increasing. In this sense, both Amazon and Google are the kings of the market, thanks to the wide range of devices available to us, especially Amazon.

The latest estimated smart speaker sales figures are provided to us by Strategy Analitycs. In its latest report on shipments corresponding to the last quarter of 2018 we see how shipments grew to 38,5 million units, which reflects a 95% growth compared to the previous year, 2017.

During the Christmas shopping period, there was a considerable increase in smart speaker sales, with Amazon's Echo and Google Home ranges topping the rankings. Meanwhile, the HomePod, experienced a growth of 45% compared to the previous quarter, although the general market share fell in this last quarter, from 4,9% in the third quarter, to 4,1% at the end of 2018.

Amazon, for its part, saw its device sales increase by 91%, increasing its market share, going from 31,8% to 35,5% in the last quarter of 2018. Google, with a market share of 30%, increased its sales by 123%, with a total of 11,5 million devices shipped during the last quarter of 2018.

According to David Watkins, CEO of Strategy Analytics:

Smart TVs and speakers were once again the most in-demand tech products this past Christmas season. We estimate that more than 60 million households around the world have at least one such device.

According to this report, Apple has practically the same numbers as other giants like Baidu and Xiaomi, who currently have a market share of 5,7% and 4,6% respectively.
