How to turn on holidays in the OS X Mavericks calendar

calendar-osx-mavericks

Another option that we may miss in OS X Mavericks and that right now I don't remember if it was enabled in previous versions of OS X Mountain Lion and OS X Lion, is the possibility of adding that the calendar indicates the holidays Offices in our country or the one we have configured on our Mac.

This is one of those options that can come in handy when we are looking at the calendar on our Mac and brighten the day. This option is not normally activated, so we will have to activate it ourselves by performing a few simple steps that we will see next.

The first is open the calendar on our Mac and click on the menu bar 'Calendar' which is in the upper part (next to the apple ) and then click on Preferences…

Once we have the preferences menu open, we only have to go to the tab General and check the box Show holiday calendar by a √. Now we will have visible all the days that are holidays in our country marked on the Mac calendar in green color. Now with the holidays activated in the calendar, if for any reason we do not want it to show us these great days, we can simply activate and deactivate it opening the calendar again and clicking on the button Calendars which is in the upper left corner, where we can mark all the calendar reminders that we want in addition to the option to see the holidays.

It is important to note that this option is only available for Mac, that is, holidays are not synced with other devices from iCloud they appear locally on our Mac.

Regarding "It is important to note that this option is only available for Mac, that is, holidays are not synchronized with other devices since iCloud appear locally on our Mac." If they are synchronized from iCloud with other devices, you just have to move the location of the calendar from the mac to iCloud, and that's it. 😉

Hello, my problem is that I cannot remove these notices. Every day is the day of the Canary Islands, of San Isidro ... of some community that neither affects me nor matters to me. I deactivate this option but the messages keep appearing, does it happen to someone else?
    thanks!

How do I add a calendar showing the holidays of my country Colombia?

    1.    Jordi Giménez said

Hi César, the article talks about the native calendar of OS X. I am not sure, but it may not work in Colombia. It is best to ask Apple directly from the web, they will tell you if this option to enable holidays in the calendar works or not in your country.

      Regards!

Help, I make the holiday changes, I leave Chile, but Mexico continues to appear, how can I solve it?

      Hi Claudia,

the same as I ceded to César… this option may not be available for the Chilean calendar.

      Regards!!

The same thing happens to me as to Eric. How are they eliminated at ALL. I don't want to see holidays, or saints, or national holidays, or anything like that. Thank you

I join Eric and Jaime. They are "very pesaos" the messages of yore! For now, the Patron Saint of each town could come out (just kidding, don't get the idea). Thank you.
