How to get the Airport 5.6.1 utility running on Mavericks

airport-5.6.1-mavericks-0

With the move to Mavericks and even already during the time of Mountain Lion, the application to manage our network in OS X also uploaded its version to 6.x leaving us an application that, although the interface within the application itself improved in purely 'aesthetic' aspects, was lame in others where functionality has to prevail above all else since its purpose is to manage networks.

So much so that different ways to install the old version on more modern systems have already appeared on the internet because otherwise downloading the image of the application and executing it normally will not provide us with access to it and the action cannot be carried out.

The crux of the matter is that Mavericks owns a file that not compatible with the old version of Airport and that it was present in OS X Mountain Lion 10.8 so the most direct and easy way would go through copying it and replacing the new one with the old one, making a backup copy of the original version of the Mavericks file beforehand, so could happen.

Specifically, this is in the following route:

/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Apple80211.framework/Versions/A

Once located, it is enough to replace it as I have already mentioned above, however there is a problem and that is that even replacing the file in question, the system it won't let us run version 5.6.1 either normally by double clicking on it so we must use the terminal to do it or go to System Preferences> Security and Privacy> General> Allow applications from Anywhere.

With these simple steps we can continue using the old version, which was left at our disposal many more advanced options From the first moment.
