If it has been a long time since you performed a clean installation, from scratch or, worse still, if you have never done it, the time has come; you will gain space and, above all, you will gain fluidity and efficiency. It is very very simple and today I will tell you how to do it.
Installing OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 from scratch
The reason why it is appropriate to perform a clean install of OS X Yosemite It is very simple, I will tell you about it with my own experience. Since I installed the first version of Yosemite I had limited myself to updating, version after version and beta after beta. Last night, after updating, I had 32,1GB free on my MacBook Air; when I finished the process, I had 43,7GB free, and that I always clean with clean my mac and I have no accumulated files in the download folder or anything like that. Now my Mac, which was already doing very well, is even better. And I did the process while I was watching TV so it is not complicated nor do you have to be excessively aware.
It is very easy, but I am going to explain it to you step by step, so that there are no loose ends:
- Update your Mac to OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 And meanwhile, look at home for a pendrive of at least 8GB that you don't need, you will need it.
- Download and install DiskMakerX.
- Once you've updated your Mac, download the full OS X installer from the Mac App Store.
- While it is downloading, check your Mac: put everything in its place, check the downloads folder, delete what you don't need and pass a "clean" of the type clean my mac.
- When the installer of OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 has finished downloading, close it.
- Plug the USB of at least 8GB into your Mac.

- Now delete the OS X installer from your Mac (it is in the «Applications folder).
- Make a backup with time Machine (or how you usually do it, although due to its extreme ease and comfort I always recommend doing it by Time Machine).
- After copying it, go to "System Preferences" → "Startup Disk" → Select the bootable USB you have created → Press "Restart". Your Mac will restart directly from the installer OS X Yosemite 10.10.3
- In the top menu, click on "Utilities" → "Disk Utility" → Select the main disk of your Mac → Press delete. Now your Mac is clean of everything.
- Exit Disk Utility
- Begin the installation process as usual. Just follow the steps indicated on the screen.
- When the process is complete, one of the screens will offer you the option to Transfer a backup from Time Machine. Select this option and wait.
AND READY! When the process is finished you will have your Mac as new, with a clean installation of OS X Yosemite 10.10.3, you will earn free gigs (check it out) and it will work much more fluid than before since it does not drag "junk" from previous updates.
And what to do if you have installed the latest version for some time and want to start from 0?

I think the creation of the USB is over. Currently when erasing the disk, only Yosemite 10.10.3 can be installed. And well, the slowness of the Mac, in my case, was due to residues of other apps that were left after I delete those apps. Clean my mac, for some reason it does not delete them and when making the copy with time machine, where I included my programs so as not to install them again, it copies those residues. For the same reason, I think it is important to see if there is no residue from deleted apps or to only make a copy of music, movies and documents and leave the rest out, because if a copy of the complete system is included, the current problems will continue despite the installation from scratch
I have a mac book pro with a broken hard drive. And I don't have another mac to make a bootable pendrive with os x, would it be possible to do it from windows?
All the tutorials I see is to make a pen with os x but to use on pc
