How to reset the Launchpad when it doesn't work properly

Launchpad

Through the Launchpad, we have access to each and every one of the applications that we have installed on our Mac, regardless of where they are installed. In most cases, It is very difficult to find any problem with the Launchpad functioning, since it only gives us access to the applications that we have installed.

However, like any operating system, it can sometimes show erratic performance and show us some of the applications that we just installed or installed some time ago. Another problem that may occur is showing icons of applications that are no longer installed on our computer.

The solution to many of the computer problems that we encounter on a day-to-day basis is to always restart our computer. However, they are not always solved and we are forced to focus our attention on a certain section, which in this case would be on the Launchpad. Resetting the Launchpad is the best solution to fix the malfunction you are experiencing.

How to restart Launchpad on Mac

Restart Launchpad

  • First we open the Finder.
  • Then, by pressing the Option key, we click with the mouse on the top menu Go. If we do not press the Option button, the menu that gives us access to the library of our device will not be displayed.
  • Click on Library> Application Support> Dock.
  • To troubleshoot our Launchpad, we just have to move the .db files to the trash.

Finally we just have to restart our Mac so that when you start macOS again, the Launchpad is automatically rebuilt with the applications that we actually have installed on our computer. This non-process does not take long, unless you are a user who downloads a large number of applications just to test them.
