Option to use Facebook chat on our Mac

Facebook and AppStores

One of the possibilities offered by the Facebook application on our iOS mobile devices is to chat with our friends or acquaintances thanks to its integrated chat service. In the OS X Mountain Lion operating system despite having a good integration, we do not have this possibility natively to use chat and Today we will see how to use this service easily in Mountain Lion.

The easiest way to add Facebook chat on our Mac is using an application external to Facebook, and in this case a very good option is to take advantage of the application that Apple offers us 'Messages'. With it we can have this 'chat' service on the Mac.

Let's see the simple steps to be able to use our Facebook chat; The first thing we have to do is connect to Facebook and accessing the profile of the social network we copy the username (just after facebook. com /) that appears in the browser bar, including numbers if they appear behind our name.

Now we just have to open the Messages app OS X and click Preferences, then in option Accounts we add an account for Facebook chat as follows:

integrate-facebook-1

  • Account type: Jabber
  • Account name: Our name copied earlier from the url and adding at the end '@ chat.facebook.com' without the quotes.
  • Password: Here we add the password that we use in the social network Facebook

Click on accept and we can now enjoy our Facebook chat with the native OS X Messages application on our Mac. Bear in mind that not all services are available with this 'fix', but at least it offers us the possibility of using this Facebook chat.

Click on the 'To' option and start writing the name of the person we want to send the message to, We will see how you use the contacts we have on Facebook. If you are not updated to Mountain Lion, nothing happens, following these steps with iChat we can also use Facebook chat on the Mac.

I don't get the contacts, 1 week ago they left me, but now I don't know why they don't appear, that is, they leave me disconnected .. and when I talk to them, I get online alone 🙁
