If you are a forgetful or clueless person among which I include myself, surely more than once you had one of those dreaded lapses in which you do not remember the login password either to check your email via the web or simply because you thought you were using a correct password when you actually changed it months ago.

Whether or not your case is, we have a "solution" if it can be typified like this, so that at least there are not so many difficulties when it comes to remembering the password. This solution is given to us by the operating system itself and it is none other than being able to use your iCloud password to log in to the Mac, that is, when you modify the password in iCloud it will have immediate effect on your Mac's, so instead of manage two passwords, we will actually only do it with one.

This new feature of OS X Yosemite could be considered a novelty since before there was no ability to use your iCloud password to log into OS X and unlock the screen. And as I have mentioned before and I emphasize again, it is a practical and effective way to reduce the number of passwords you need to use and manage.

With this in mind, the first and foremost thing is that have access to the network and be connected with your iCloud account for this way activate password. If you do not have this section activated, you can carry it out through system preferences> iCloud and log in.

On the other hand, Yosemite will ask you firstly for the settings to enable iCloud password once you have logged in with the iCloud account. In the event that reject this during this initial setup, Yosemite will allow you to activate iCloud Password later, which as I said, can be done through System Preferences> Users and Groups> Change password, and then click on the button «Use iCloud password»
