iFixit locates a hidden port on the new 15 ″ MacBook Pros with Touch Bar

Normally the guys at iFixit perform the operation of opening the devices of the same company with little time difference between them. In this case it was the 15-inch model with Touch Bar and fingerprint sensor and apparently there is a connector that the 13-inch model does not have ... It is not that it is something that Apple did not do in other of its devices or Mac in the past, but this having different ports or internal connections between them is curious to say the least.

The port that the new MacBook Pro with Touch Bar have inside and that is not connected to anything other than the motherboard is not in the 13 inch model that they reviewed a couple of days ago. In this case, the port is free to use once the machine is open and reminds us of the port that we have on the company's smart watch (not in design but in a port out of reach of the user) to be able to perform any maintenance or similar task. ifixit-macbook-pro-port

In any case, what we are clear about is that Apple or leaves nothing to chance and this port is for something on the computer, like the extra driver for the MacBook Pro trackpad that it incorporates inside the computer. It is clear to us that the company will not comment on the use of the enigmatic free port but it could be a back door for possible Apple fault detections on the board, memories or even the SSD disks that these teams add and that it was already clear that they are not replaceable in the iFixit investigations.

Ah! There are no surprises regarding the score to repair the equipment, it is the same as in the 13-inch models and they directly classify it as irreparable, 1 out of 10.
