At the beginning of 2019 Ikea launched a series of smart blinds that unfortunately could only be controlled from its own remote controls or through Google Home. They promised that HomeKit compatibility would come soon. One year later, Ikea has started to launch the necessary update so that the blinds Tradfri, are compatible with Apple.
You may not have any luck yet and the necessary update has not arrived, but as the swedes promisedIn early January 2020, incompatibilities with Apple users would be resolved. Be patient if you are not yet one of the lucky ones who already have the compatibility.
Ikea does what it says with blinds Tradfri and are already compatible with Apple
You will have had to wait a year if you are a user of Ikea blinds Tradfri to be fully compatible with Apple's home system, the HomeKit. The Swedish company announced that compatibility with the American company would take a long time to come, but it would come. This has been the case, and from now on, it is possible to download the necessary update that makes these blinds compatible.
The update may not have reached you yet, but it will be a matter of time. What you should do to check if you already have it available is to update the Tradfri gateway to the latest firmware. The new version is 1.10.28. If it appears, you can start managing them from HomeKit. If not, don't despair and wait a few hours or try again to see if there is more luck.
You can finally enjoy and manually drag the blinds slider in the Home app to raise or lower them. But it is best to use voice commands with Siri. With HomeKit you can not only raise or lower them, you can indicate to what extent you want them to open. For example: "open the blinds to 40%".
Enjoy!!!
