Install Silverlight on your Mac

Here's a quick introduction to Silverlight, for those of you who don't know it:

Microsoft Silverlight is a plug-in for Internet browsers based on the Windows platform that adds new multimedia functions such as video playback, vector graphics, animations, and development environment; similar to what it does Adobe flash.

Silverlight competes with Adobe flex, Nexaweb, OpenLaszlo and some component presentations AJAX. The first version of Silverlight was released in September 2007 and its version 3.0 is currently distributed free of charge.

Nowadays there are quite a few web applications made in Silverlight (although it is not even close to Flash), so it is a good option to have it installed so as not to get hung up on some web and do things at the last minute. It is totally free, so it is an almost mandatory complement.

I do not intend to install it. Silverlight is another private garbage to create another monopoly, as flash already is. I do not plan to visit any site that requires third-party plugins, it is against the philosophy of the internet. In my opinion, the web must remain neutral, and the content must be displayed using standards such as html, css and javascript.

Manuel, 80 percent of serious companies use multimedia content,
Can you imagine how it would be to develop multimedia content using only html java script.
Can you imagine how Youtube would be without flash? Or is it that you never even saw a multimedia tutorial. or a movie online?

Juanito Perez, hehehehe…. update yourself, welcome to the new world of the web: html5 ...
A world where Flash and its Silverlight counterpart tend to disappear, all browsers know it and have been updated, although some do not want it (IE) slowly they are realizing the great potential (it does not suit them because their "new" baby Silverlight will disappear).
Have you seen Youtube in html5, where flash is used in a large percentage: 0%?

Manuel .. as far as I know Flash belongs to Adobe, and these belong to Oracle… you will tell me a multimedia page without flash or silver they are no longer thinkable.
HTML5 is still in its infancy. and you have to take that fucks CODE to use it.

Those of us who use free software browse and create web pages WITHOUT proprietary software. There are equivalents for java and flash player of oracle and adobe respectively and even more, as mentioned above, flash tends to perish before html5. I also watch youtube without flash player. The world is much bigger than what proprietary software users see. But many are so absorbed by the system that they would fight even with their lives to defend it (paraphrasing Morpheus vs Neo in the Matrix)
