Intel Comet Lake, the processors that could mount the MacBook

Intel processors

We are not clear if the new processors presented by Intel during this CES 2020 are going to be the future of the MacBook Pro, but for now, as long as Apple does not decide, it looks so. In any case, the company has just presented the new tenth generation processors, Intel Comet Lake up to 5GHz.

It seems that Intel chips are going to continue for a few years alongside Apple equipment, at least until the Cupertino company decides to implement the ARMs or even the AMDs that are standing up to Intel. In this case the new Intel Core are manufactured in 14nm and have a consumption of 45W so they would serve perfectly to meet the needs of MacBook Pro.

Be that as it may, these microprocessors shown by Intel last August are designed for laptops that require higher performance and low consumption. This is difficult to achieve but Intel tends to do well in this regard and it seems that the new Comet Lake would be a very good future option for the 16-inch Pro, machines that have to withstand a really demanding workload and in which battery consumption and power have to be good.

There is not much more that we can advance about the future of these processors in Mac, what does seem clear is that ARM does not seem a clear option today for these 16-inch MacBook Pros and the only ones that can compete are AMD processors, but we doubt that Apple made the leap to them, surely they will stay with Intel for a while, it will be necessary to closely follow the news regarding this important component of computers.
