Intel Power Gadget, again available for macOS

Every time a news item from Intel comes out in recent times, it creates some expectation, although in this case it has only been a temporary disconnection regarding the download of the application that Intel has at its disposal, to monitor the processors.

This past weekend Power Gadget download was not accessible from Intel's page. It is an emblematic macOS application that informs us of the performance at all times of the workload of our Mac processors. The application disappeared from its official site.

At this time the reasons are unknown, although it is likely that it responds to maintenance reasons or a malfunction of the page at that point. After resetting the application, we see that the macOS version has received a slight update from version 3.5.2 to 3.5.3. It does not seem that the rest of the versions, both for Windows and Linux have been updated.

Rumors indicate that Predictably the guys from Intel will discover some compatibility problem with the new MacBook Pro of 2018, such as performance calibration issues.

Last week we told you the 2018 15-inch MacBook Pro performance issues with i9 processors, which offered performance problems due to the high temperature they reached. These tests were done with Power Gadget and this appears to be one of the reasons why Intel has withdrawn the application for review or verify that this problem was actually occurring.

About performance issues, It's hard to understand that Intel and Apple haven't done extreme testing with the new i9 processors. It is also likely that some new processors may cause problems, or give poor results when measuring the data.

To run Power Gadget, you need macOS High Sierra. As in any case, we recommend updating this and all application updates to avoid having problems already detected by developers.
