Intel Introduces Next Generation Ice Lake Processors for 2018

Intel has presented a large number of processors so far in 2017. But as we have learned a few hours ago, it prepares new processors with the name of Ice Lake that will see the light in 2018 and 2019. The presentation of processors that will not be marketed for at least 12 months is an atypical circumstance, but this time Intel has changed the strategy. The presentation will take place next week and we will be informing you of all the news. However, as a preview we will say that are based on the 10nm + architecture. These new processors will be the continuation of the 8th generation of processors of the brand.

Processor family Ice Lake is a successor to the XNUMXth generation Intel® Core ™ processor family. These processors use the processing technology of 10nm+ from the industry leading Intel.

As we said, Intel is in "proactive mode", if you are not very familiar, you can get lost. At the beginning of the year, we knew the processors Kaby Lake, targeting MacBooks. Later, we met the series of processors Cannon Lake, which will be the first to incorporate 10nm + technology. Finally, the processors Coffee Lake, which we will see in computers intended for desktop.

Anandtech, believes that the strategy followed by Intel is to save time, with current processors and those that are immediately incorporated into the equipment. With this, it aims to develop new 10 nm + chips in time for small and large teams.

Simply put, the first generation 10nm requires small processors to ensure high performance. Intel seems to be putting the smallest sizes in the Cannon lake 10nm, while the largest chips will be in Coffee Lake.

As long as desktop models use larger chips, it gives Intel time to further develop its 10nm manufacturing skills, leading to its 10+ process for larger chips.

Therefore, and according to KPM We will see Coffee Lake chips in the next MacBook Pros and iMac, based on the 14nm architecture. Anyway, any news, we will comment on this blog.
