Apple never discloses on the number of Apple watches it sells. It is a question we ask ourselves in each keynote, when they bring out something new in relation to the Apple watch. We know that today it is one of the best-selling watches worldwide, but we do not have numerical data, provided by the company. At least, in its last publication of results, it offered relative data: the company had sold 50% more watches, compared to the previous year. Today we have learned from the hand of the analysis company Canalys, that sales would have reached 3,9 million watches in the third quarter.
Apparently this is the first time since the launch of the Apple Watch that, demand has exceeded supply. On the other hand, operators have been surprised in relation to their customers' requests about whether they will offer LTE service to Apple Watch. Recall that the Apple Watch series 3 LTE can connect to the network without depending on the iPhone, as long as we have a virtual SIM. According to the latest rumors, this service will arrive in Spain from January 2018.
Canalis's estimate indicates that some 800.000 users would have opted for the LTE model. If we take into account that the third quarter covers July, August and September and the Apple Watch series 3, began to be sold in September, it shows the pull of the latest Apple watch model.
Sales forecasts for series 3 are even better. Sales of the watch in China have not yet started, since the country's government vetoed the LTE service of the Apple Watch. On the other hand, the last quarter of the year has always been very favorable for Apple Watch sales. As the expectations of series 3 have been higher than series 2, everything seems to indicate that series 3 awaits a strong implantation in the coming months.
