Surely many of iTunes users have been surprised by finding your personal music library incorrectly labeled with active DRM copy protection, thank goodness Apple has responded quickly and overall you can breathe easy as iTunes 12.2.1 has arrived in patch form to correct this issue.
Specifically, this problem arose with some iTunes Match users after registering in Apple Music where the cry was raised in different forums since a great confusion was created as to whether Apple was adding this DRM protection to the users' libraries. . Indeed in the end it has not been like that and this version comes to correct this blissful DRM problem on Apple Music.
According to Apple's release notes, the 12.2.1 update includes:
- Fixes an issue iTunes Match users were experiencing where iTunes incorrectly changed some songs from "Cloud" to "Apple Music"
- Provides a way to correct a library issue that was affecting users who were previously iTunes Match subscribers.
- Fixes some minor issues and includes improvements in Beats 1.
A problem of metadata in iCloud Music Library It has already been reported and it resulted in the covers being mixed and the information of the songs being corrupted, however this specific problem has not yet been solved and is being widely criticized, for now the only alternative is to restore a previous security file from our library, as we explain in this post.
ITunes 12.2.1 update is free and it's available through the Mac App Store or Apple's iTunes website to install manually.
