iTunes LP offers a wide range of possibilities for add interactive content to albums, so that users can read the lyrics as the songs are played in addition to seeing photos and videos of the groups or singers. But the low demand for this type of product has forced the company to stop offering this format and within a few months it will stop accepting this type of content.
According to different media reports, Apple has sent different emails to its partners in the music business in the last two weeks, announced the removal of the iTunes LP service from the iTunes Store. The email has been signed by the Apple Music Team and the subject of the email can read "The end of the iTunes LP."
Apple will no longer accept new shipments of iTunes LPs starting in March 2018. Currently available iTunes LPs will be retired throughout 2018. Customers who have purchased such an album can continue to download the additional content using iTunes Match .
iTunes LP offered endless opportunities to create an interactive multimedia experience for albums available in the iTunes Store. This movement by Apple, only confirms the change in trend of the industry in recent years, where consumption has become via streaming, a way that allows us to enjoy any song or album whenever we want without having to buy it previously.
