How to keep your AirPods dirt free?

Many are those who are still waiting for the arrival of their new AirPods, but others of us have already been enjoying them for weeks and with their use, the headphones and the case they suffer from the inclemencies of the day to day, that is, to touch them and have them put in the ears.

If you want to have your headphones like new and not spoil their proper functioning, you have to remove dirt carefully and not make the mistake of unnecessary humidity.

Apple headphones are made of glossy white plastic, as is the case that contains them. I think it goes without saying that they cannot be immersed in liquids, nor can they be cleaned directly with sprays that allow moisture to reach the hundreds of internal components that both headphones have inside.

With daily use, both the case and the headphones are covered with dirt that you have to think about how to remove so that they look like the first day. By this I do not mean that we have to be cleaning them thoroughly every day. What I am going to comment on in this article is what I do with my set of headphones, so if you consider that you can do it better in your own way, it is totally acceptable.

AirPods should always sleep inside their protective case and that is how we will always have them charged and safely stored. The headphones have two small metal pieces at the bottom that are nothing more than the terminals of the batteries that have to be charged. For this reason, these parts must be very clean so that short circuits do not occur when we insert them into the case.

AirPods have holes, some larger through which the sound comes out and others smaller through which the air is exchanged to generate better bass. Well, those holes when putting the headphones in the ears, even if we have them very clean, when we run or are for hours with the headphones on, fat is generated on the skin that in the end ends up embedded in the holes that I have mentioned to you. I use an ear stick to rub those areas and clean them perfectly without scratching the headphones or damaging the metal grill that is at the sound outlet of them.

On the other hand, we have the case and it is essential that the holes where the AirPods are inserted are completely clean and free of dirt. Likewise, the lid of that case has a hinge and closes magnetically, so the joint of the lid with the body of the case must also be cleaned so that dirt does not spoil the plastic in the closure area.

To clean the plastic of the AirPods and the case I use a spray of glass cleaner on a microfiber cloth and then wipe them slowly and gently with that microfiber cloth.

Thank you very much for this advice, I will take it into account when cleaning mine, I have been with them for almost a month and I had not fallen into their maintenance and cleaning.
