El kernel panic The a message displayed by the operating system when it detects an internal system error (software or hardware) from which it cannot recover. The kernel panic was introduced in an early version of Unix and it demonstrated a vast difference between the design philosophy of Unix and its predecessor Multics.
In short, the kernel panic is the equivalent of blue screen on Windows and many Mac OS users boast that they have never seen one. There are them, in fact I witnessed those that my first Mac had, a Power Mac G5, although I have to admit that I was partly to blame since I installed a RAM module that was not compatible.
If you are curious to see one or want to play a prank on a colleague, you can install this screensaver which faithfully emulates the unpleasant experience of suffering a kernel panic. It is totally harmless but it is the most credible as you can see in this video.
