Know at all times the number of shots from your SLR camera with ShutterCount

When buying a second-hand SLR camera, assuming that the user who is going to buy it knows something about photography and that it is not their first model, one of the aspects that must always be taken into account is the number of shutters or shots the camera has taken.

This information, is available through the different camera menus, but it is not always in the same place, even though the cameras are from the same manufacturer. To solve this little big problem, in the Mac App Store, we can find an application that offers us this information quickly.

Thanks ShutterCount, we just have to connect the camera to the USB port of our Mac or via Wi-Fi and open the application. The application it will show us the number of photos we have taken through the optical viewfinder. It also allows us to know the number of photographs we have taken using the Live View function (function that allows us to use the LCD screen of our camera to focus on the object to be photographed). This feature is available through an in-app purchase.

Other in-app purchases of this application, allows us to know the forecast of camera use, which will allow us to get an idea of when it will be time to go through the workshop and change the shutter. It also allows us to remove duplicates from history, sync date and time with camera (Canon only), and notify us when firmware version is out of date (Canon only).

In addition, it allows us to monitor the use we make of the camera, allowing us to export the data to CSV format, which we can open and manage later with Apple Numbers or Microsoft Excel. ShutterCount is priced at 4,49 euros on the Mac App Store. It is compatible with the majority of current cameras both from Canon and from Nikon and Pentax.
