Learn how to mute tabs in Google Chrome for Mac

Long ago, there was a war between the different browsers that exist on the market. When we consulted comparative tutorials between browsers, parameters such as the loading speed of a page, the weight of the application or the consumption of resources were measured. Currently it seems that the developers have relaxed on the extensive improvement of the browsers or the limit has been reached.

Among the most prominent, we find Safari and Chrome, each with its differences and similarities. Among the latest news we find the possibility of silencing tabs. Safari has the option from Mac OS X Captain, incorporating a loudspeaker on the right of the address bar, and pressing on it, we mute this tab. But Does Google Chrome have this option? Yes it is available, but it is semi hidden

The first thing to do is locate the tab. If we open a page where we expect to see a video or an audio, there will be no problem. But sometimes we are in pages where a video that is in a lower part and is executed automatically. As we do not expect it, it is possible that we do not know which page to silence. Locating it is easy. A speaker symbol will appear to the right of the tab that is emitting sound.

Once located, silencing it is as simple as clicking on the tab with the right button. At that moment a menu with several options should appear, we look for the option mute tab. We press it and that's it. It is easy to verify that we have the option marked, since the same appears to us speaker with a crossbar, to indicate that it is canceled. In this way, we will have this tab muted, but we can continue listening to the rest of the tabs.

Later, it might be time to hear the audio from the previously muted tab. In that case, you must do this same task, but now we choose: enable tab sound.

This option is available at least in version 55.0.2883.95, which is the one I have now installed on my Mac. If it doesn't appear, update to the latest version.
