LG Gram, LG's lightweight laptop

We are near the CES in Las Vegas (Consumer Electronic Show) where many of the manufacturers show their news both to the press and to the users who travel there. For those who "do not know" we will say briefly that this event is very similar to the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona where technology and various gadgets are the protagonists. In these events Apple does not have a presence since we all know that the guys from Cupertino have their own events where they present their news and others, the Apple Keynotes, but the rest of the companies do usually show news at this Las Vegas event one of those who will show their products is LG.

In this case, the Korean company has not wanted to wait for CES and presents us with a rival for Apple's MacBook. Getting into the benefits of one or the other may be something that we do not believe will ever end, since the differences are really evident, but if we look at the detail of the weight and it is that this new model of the series LG Gram, only weighs 980 grams even with a 15,6-inch screen. Notably Apple's lightest MacBook is the 12-inch and weighs 92ogWhich means that at least in the weight detail, LG has done an exceptional job with this new laptop.

On the other hand, in addition to beating Apple's Macs, LG also beats some of its most direct rivals, such as Lenovo's that the lightest is at 980g but it is also with a 13-inch screen, so He doesn't seem to have a rival right now that beats him in lightness and screen. This LG Gram has two versions with Intel Skylake i5 or i7 processor, numeric keypad, USB Type C port and HDMI, obviously the OS is Windows 10. The battery of this new laptop that will be shown at CES 2016 and according to the manufacturer It would not exceed in this case the one offered by the MacBook, since LG speaks of about 7 or 7,30 hours of use for this LG Gram.

All the previous versions of this LG Gram model already faced the current Apple MacBook Air and in design, although it is true that they are similar, most of the reviews mentioned the better design, finishes and performance of the MacBook Air, despite the physical similarity "at first glance" between both models.

Yesterday we were talking with my partner Pedro about the weight of Apple's MacBook Pros and if the company could really make an effort to lower it. Obviously there are the MacBook Air or MacBook, worse if we want more powerful features we have to go for the Pro and this despite being quite light, In the case of the 15-inch model, we will weigh 2kg.

I am clear that I personally am not going to buy a laptop that is not Mac today, despite "the numbers and benefits" that we are sold in current laptops I am used to Mac. But this issue of the weight to carry the computer from one side to the other can be a determining factor in the future of Mac, just as it is being with current smartphones that are becoming increasingly lighter and this may be something to highlight in the following generations of MacBook Pro, already that Airs or MacBooks are really light nowadays, but the size of the screen is a point to consider.
