Little Snitch is updated to version 4.1 and comes with new features

On some occasion we have told you about Little Snitch the software for macOS that allows us to control the incoming and outgoing connections of our Mac. Version 4.1 has just been released and incorporates some new feature, which allows you to gain dynamism and make a nod to the social part of an app.

From now we can subscribe to filter lists created by other users. In this way, users who start with the application will have it easier if they import this list of filters. That is, learning has to be faster. On the other hand, this subscription will also help more advanced users.

They can find a source of inspiration for a particular configuration. What's more, if the filter creator updates his filter, our filter will update automatically.

With that, Little Snitch seeks to gain users of a similar application, known as EasyList, whose function is to block ads. This application is the one behind many blockers that we use frequently.

If you would like to share your rules with other users, you must follow some rules, which the Little Snitch developer describes to us. If you agree, sharing your filters is very simple.

  • Select filter that you want to share.
  • press file - export selected rule.
  • A file is generated, which we must upload to the developer's servers.
  • Finally, you must share its url.

Otherwise, if you want to import a filter, you must enter the URL in the space that opens when selecting:

  • File - New subscription to the rule group.

The advice, although it is obvious, is to subscribe only to the rules of people you trust and to analyze if the rule you care about fulfills the aspirations you want. On the other hand, you can always delete a rule if you wish or modify the one you have, with the option «Allow the Global Rule to be edited, in Preferences and security.

The update is free for users who purchased the application. If you decide to try it, you can try it for 30 days. After this period, the application costs € 45.
