Two years ago, we echoed a rumor, which stated that Apple was interested in opening up the Tower Theater, in the city of Los Angeles, an old theater that is closed today for a few years, to turn it into a new Apple Store. During those two years we have not heard from it again.
As we can read in the Curbed Los Angeles, the city council has given the go-ahead to the Cupertino-based company so that the company can restore the building and open a new Apple Store, Apple Store that as usual, will revitalize the commercial areas located in the surroundings.
There have been many rumors that Apple could expand its presence in downtown Los Angeles, but so far, there was no evidence about it, beyond the rumor that circulated in 2017 stating that the agreement between the city council and Apple had been closed, something that as we were able to verify was not true.
The Tower Theater was built in 1927, and noted for his technical prowessAs it was the first theater in the city of Los Angeles to be wired for sound, in addition to having air conditioning. Although the building began to deteriorate when it was abandoned by its former owners, forcing the city council to take over, the structure still displays many impressive architectural details, including the tower clock and impressive interior moldings.
Apple has shown in recent years, show priority for architectural preservation, and many of the new Apple Stores that the company has opened, are located in some emblematic buildings, thanks to this, many buildings that were not in their best time, have been restored after being rented by Apple and have returned to show the splendor they had in their early years.
