Lotus Symphony is a pack of applications created by the IBM company, with this office automation pack you can create, edit and share text documents, spreadsheets and presentations.

Lotus Symphony uses OpenOffice as a base, and this IBM pack has some different features that are really appreciated as they are a fairly worked and functional user interface as well as several add-ons with which more striking jobs can be obtained.

In this new version, in addition to looking more modern, the compatibility with Microsoft Office 2007 files has been greatly improved; that is, the ones that have an 'x' at the end of the extension (.docx). In addition, it is now possible to customize various aspects of the menu bars, spreadsheets can handle 3D graphics, a note function has been added with which several users can collaborate in the creation of a document and it is now possible to insert files multimedia such as videos and audio.

Another advantage of using this suite is that it is multiplatform (Mac OS X, Windows and Linux) and it has no cost, that means that it will be possible to work in the same way regardless of the operating system used. Regarding the latter, from IBM itself they ensure that all those (companies in particular) that change to this suite will save a good dough, they will be protecting the investments they have been making and will continue to be just as productive.
