We already have among us the long-awaited 2020-inch MacBook Pro 13. Yes, 13 inches and not 14 as rumored. Comes with many new arrivals compared to the 2019 model, but they may not be enough if they are thinking of updating or buying this model from you. Let's see how one and the other differ.
MacBooK Pro from 2020 is not as radical an update as expected.
The first thing that stands out is that it is still 13 inches. The 14 inches that were rumored to have stayed at that, in a rumor. The truth is that size does matter, when it comes to computer screens. A single inch it shows a lot. Especially since the rumor said it would be 14 inches but with the same size.
Let's talk about the price of this new model. The initial price is maintained. From € 1499, the most basic model. It has an i5 processor, 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of SSD.
It surprises me, for the worse, that even in the most expensive model have not included an i7. They all stay on the i5, which is honestly a bit outdated. The 16 ”MacBook Pro does go as far as the i9.
Something similar happens with the dimensions and weight of the 2020 MacBook Pro. In general, it can be said that they are the same as the 2019 model. The only difference is in the thickness. The new 2020 MacBook Pro has 0,7 mm thicker. Nothing we need to worry about. The same happens with the weight: 1.4 Kg of the new model compared to 1.37 of the previous one.
In the other characteristics, the new model has not changed too much
As for the storage of this new Mac, starts at 256 GB of space in disk SSD, in front of the 128 of the previous one. This is normal, because if 128 is already scarce on a mobile phone, imagine on a computer with the resolution that this model brings.
But we do not have great news in RAM: It expands a bit. Now we can choose up 32 GB, but at a price, I don't know if it's worth it, really.
We keep trying to look for something new that draws attention or stands out to say that this 2020 model with 13 inches is a good candidate in case you want to buy it. Even in the graphics and on the screen we find it difficult say it is something exceptional.
The screen size remains the same: 13,3 inches. With the same resolution: 2.560 × 1.600 IPS wide color (P3) with true tone. The only thing that changes a bit is that we cannot choose between different graphics cards. We only have the Intel Iris Plus available 645.
Finally we come to the most anticipated change: the Magic keyboard
One of the biggest novelties is found in the keyboard of the new MacBook Pro 2020. It has built-in the new Magic Keyboard. Good news, but highly anticipated, because the butterfly keyboard, gave many problems and Apple has already been changing the keyboard to all new devices. Even the new iPad It brings this type of keyboard as an accessory, which by the way is wonderful but very, very, very expensive.
The Magic Keyboard also has one more physical key than previous version: a physical escape key. The change was well received by developers who prefer a dedicated escape key, rather than relying on the software version in the Touch Bar.
There are other changes of minor entity that Apple has done in the 13-inch MacBook Pro, adjusting a formula that is already quite successful, but that if you do not analyze carefully you may come to think that there are not so many changes or they are not important enough.
