macOS Mojave now supports monitors with DisplayLink technology

The issues between macOS Mojave and displays that use DisplayLink technology seem to have been resolved, after the problems that users reported after installing macOS 10.13.4. In addition, the confirmation has come from the creator of this technology.

DisplayLink allows monitors to be connected via USB ports. In this way, we do not depend on HDMI or DisplayPort connections, technology that exists in the most current monitors. Until now, users are using version 4.3 of the DisplayLink software that allows a solution, although this should not be the definitive one. If everything continues like this, with the launch of Mojave we will see the final solution.

Therefore, the problem that arose and that black pages were shown, although in some cases the sound and the Ethernet works, would be resolved in version 5.0 for macOS. The company is currently testing in beta and its forecast is to launch it together with the first version of macOS Mojave on September 24.

DisplayLink is a technology with an important boom in the computer world, due to the great democratization of the system. It allows to use practically any type of screen on any computer and any operating system. To enjoy it, only a traditional USB port is required. Apple has been betting on more current systems since 2016. Through the USB-C ports it offers outputs to monitors with HDMI and DisplayPort.

Regardless of the ports you currently have, you can make use of DisplayLink technology regardless of the type of port you have on your computer. Logically it is used when the connection with your monitor is made through USB ports. It is increasingly common to find jobs that require an additional monitor to the computer screen. In addition to video or audio editors, many clerks today are more productive with the use of two screens. We hope that Apple helps in the development of this technology and does not hinder it.
