One of the new functions of OS X Yosemite is the possibility of creating groups and managing them to our liking in the native Messages application and we are going to talk about this today, how manage group messages and the possibilities offered by the native Apple app. To begin, the interesting thing is to be able to continue our conversations on the iPhone, iPad or iPod on the Mac thanks to handoff, something that gives us a lot of play. The ability to send messages to users through their phone number or with the email address associated with the Apple ID, is great and we can use it very well to have it activated on our Mac. That said, we are going to see the management of groups from OS X Yosemite and the possibilities offered by the Apple App.

The management and possibilities that we have in the Messages groups are simple but interesting and what stands out is the ease of adding or removing friends in conversations. To do this we just have to start a conversation with one of our friends and add the others as we want or at the same time we start the conversation. If we decide to add new contacts in an already created group, this new user you will not see previous messages.

Create a new group from the Mac

This is very simple, we open the application and click on the pencil and paper icon (1) and we can start adding the numbers or email addresses of the people we want in the group in the bar For. If we have the contacts saved in the iMac we can click on the symbol + (2) and add all the contacts we want.

If by any chance the person we add does not have iMessage active, it is evident that the sending of messages will not be allowed and the application highlights it in red. In the case of iOS devices, would send as normal SMS to that person.

Manage the group once created

Now we can change the name of the group, add or remove contacts from the group, activate the do not disturb option or leave the conversation without the group being deleted. To carry out these tasks we have to enter the conversation and click on Details, on the right side of the window.

We can also start a private conversation, send an email or show the details of one of our contacts if we click on them in the option Details. Another option available is to make a FaceTime by clicking on the icons that appear next to our contact, send a audio note or even share our screen which is something we will see in another post.

It's that simple to use Group Messages, obviously the available functions are for conversations with a single person, that is, we always have the possibility of using Messages with someone who has an Apple computer.
