According to Mark Gurman, Face ID will not come in this renewal of the iMac

The leaks and rumors that are being launched from Bloomberg by Mark Gurman, about Apple products do not stop arriving. This time the company seems to take another generation to implement the introduced facial sensor for the first time on the iPhone X.

Well it seems that finally according to the Gurman report iMac would not add this unlock sensor in new iMac models that will add other important changes such as the elimination of the lower metal part, the flat shape on the back and even the almost total elimination of the screen frames.

Face ID

According to the latest leaks The new iMac models will replace the current 21,5 and 27-inch models to go between 23 and 24 inches. But this is not indicative of the implementation of Face ID although it is true that at the beginning of the rumors it did seem that this sensor would arrive in this first important change in Apple's all-in-one equipment.

Really the changes in the iMac are not too many since in 2012 they became much thinner with that belly in the back. The front is the same as we had in 2009 and it seems that this year they will choose a major design change more similar to the line of the iPad Pro or the more recent iPhone 12.

What Gurman denies now is that Face ID is going to reach teams this year as well indicated in MacRumors. They will have several improvements and of course the new Apple M1 processors together with the new more powerful GPUs, but this method of unlocking will have to wait. We will see if this changes between now and autumn of this year, which is when iMac are usually launched. But Gurman usually fails little in his predictions.
