McAfee says that during 2016 malware increased more than 700% on Macs

One of the news that Mac lovers like to do the least is that of the increasingly frequent malware detected in macOS, but this is inevitable if we take into account that there are more and more Macs on the market and more interest to find the failures of this operating system. Obviously when we read news where the source is precisely a company that is dedicated to detecting malware, adware and viruses, it is more normal to show more interest in uncovering all the "malware problems" detected. In this case we are facing news that comes from McAfee and we do not say that it is not true, simply do not be alarmed by this headline.

In this case, it is true that the increase in Macs that suffer an attack or are infected by malware is greater now than it was years ago, it must also be said that most infections are from adware, a type of virus that what it does is launch advertising where there is none - so that it is understood in a simple way - and that in most cases the user is "infected" by downloading applications of dubious origin. On a few occasions if not any, there are other reasons for infection and less if we download all the apps from the Mac App Store or from a certified developer.

But it is also clear that the interest in infecting Apple computers has increased in recent years and as we say it is because of the increase of these in the market. In short and as we always say, common sense is the most important rule to avoid problems with this increase in malware on Macs.
