For a couple of versions of OS X, although now the operating system is called macOS, Safari allows us to silence the tabs, so that if we are playing various video or audio content in Safari we can let only the one we are interested in play or we are visualizing at that moment. But Safari is not the only browser that allows us to deactivate the sound of the different tabss that we have open at any given moment, since both Chrome, the Google browser, and Firefox also allow us to silence tabs to let only the audio of the one we need at that moment to be played.
In order to be able to silence the tabs in Safari, Chrome and Firefox, browsers offer us two main options. The first of them and the fastest yes click on the microphone icon shown on the right of the tab that is playing music at the moment. To be able to resume the sound, we just have to carry out the same process, but unchecking the speaker that is currently crossed out.
The second method to be able to silence the tabs is found when we place ourselves on top of the tab that we want to silence and click on the right button mouse. From all the options that it shows us, we have to select Mute tab, so that at that moment, the sound of that tab, whether it is only audio and video, stops playing the sound. If we want to play it again, we place ourselves on top of the tab in question and click on the right mouse button to reactivate the sound of it.
Both processes can be combined to activate or deactivate the soundSince the function they perform is the same, the only thing that changes is the method to do it.
