New iMac and Macbook Pro designs for next year

Apple is planning new MacBook Pro and iMac models for the first half of next year 2011 that should include a redesign, it reported last night. The iMac will reportedly have a "new panel size" and presumably a lower price to reach more users.

The MacBook Pro meanwhile only have a "slight" change in design, but could be one of the first Apple notebooks to ship with Mac OS X Lion since its launch, according to component producers.

Both the iMac and the MacBook Pro would be manufactured by Foxconn and Quanta. Quanta has generally been Apple's preferred manufacturer for the iMac, but sometimes it orders production batches from other contractors to help with the high demand. Regardless of the division, Quanta expects to have more orders from Apple, as the Mac's share of Quanta's revenue would increase from 20 percent this year to between 28 and 30 percent in 2011.
