New report shows growth in minority hiring

It has been just a year since Apple released an employee diversity report and it was disappointing, and now the Cupertino-based company is back with a new report. Apple notes that there have been big steps in the right direction, but also acknowledges that there are still there is more work to do.

In a specific section that we put the link at the end of this article, Apple describes that it has hired 11.000 women in the last year worldwide, which is a remarkable 65% increase, compared to hiring figures from the prior year 2014. Apple also hired 2.200 black employees y 2.700 Hispanics and Latinos, all employed in the United States, a annual increase of 50% and 66%respectively.

At the time of publication of Apple's diversity report, the company says its workforce is now about 100.000 employees, with a large increase in minorities.

 Tim Cook says in the report:

We are supporting education with programs like the 'Thurgood Marshall College Fund' to help students in historically black colleges and universities by giving them opportunities within technology. We are connected to bring our technology to some of the most economically disadvantaged minorities in schools and communities in America, so that more people have the opportunity to pursue their dreams.

The numbers that Apple shows for men and women, employees has not moved much in the year, Apple reports that the 69% of its workforce is male, Whereas the 31% are female. Compared to 2014, Apple's male numbers were 70% of the workforce, while women were 30% of the total numbers. The 55% of the total number of employees in 2014 that were reported were White race, and that percentage is now 54%.
