There are many articles that we have published in Soy de Mac about rumors related to the launch of Mac models with mini-LED display. Ming-Chi Kuo stated a few weeks ago, that until 2021, Apple does not plan to launch any new products making use of this technology.
Although Kuo's hit rate is quite high, although sometimes he is wrong (it must be said), so it never hurts to contrast the information he publishes. The analyst of the research firm GF Securities, Jeff Pu, has sent a note to his analysts confirming Kuo's information.
That is, until 2021, we can already forget to see new Mac models with mini-LED display. But unlike Kuo, Jeff reports the expected launch dates for the different devices that will hit the market with this type of screen:
- 12,9-inch iPad Pro with mini-LED display will be launched in the first quarter of 2021.
- 16-inch MacBook Pro will hit the market in the second quarter of 2021.
- New 27-inch iMac It will be presented in the second half of 2021, probably in the keynote of presentation of the iPhones that Apple launches in 2021.
Kuo claimed that Apple would also introduce the mini-LED display on the 14-inch MacBook Pro in addition to the 10,2-inch iPad and iPad mini, however, the GF Securities analyst, does not mention them in his last report, so they will probably only be found in the devices with the highest performance until the manufacturing price decreases.
Kuo stated that the suppliers in charge of the manufacture of the mini-LED panels plan to start mass production of the components that are part of the screen between the end of 2020 and the beginning of 2021, but without specifying launch dates, so if we take that schedule into account, in 2020 we will not be able to enjoy the advantages offered by this type of screens.
