No space in iCloud? Delete backups

We cannot deny that the 5GB free storage space that Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), offers us in iCloud for our documents in iCloud Drive and our backups is, to put it mildly, ridiculous, even more so since the introduction of iCloud Photo Library. Any average user will lack space at any time and, although for € 0,9 per month we can have 20GB, it is likely that with photos and videos of increasing quality and, therefore, also larger, this one will also end up with us be scarce at any given time. One solution to this is delete backups unnecessary.

Earn space in iCloud

A good tip is that from time to time, I do not say daily, nor every week, but from time to time take a look at how your space is storage en iCloudNot only to delete data from applications that you don't really need or want to be there (maybe you've even deleted them from your iPhone), but also to delete backups that take up precious gigs and gigs.

This review should be done especially when you renew or change your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch device since iCloud It will save the last backup of your old device and the backup of the new one.

It is evident that the backup copy of the old one, once dumped in the new one, and made the first backup of this one, you no longer want it or need it absolutely at all so we are going to give it a door and win in iCloud all the space that is occupying us and, as you will see, in process, how easy it is, it seems already done for those who have not seen an iPhone even by far in their life:

  1. Follow the path Settings → iCloud → Storage → Manage storage and you will see a screen with all the information regarding the space you have occupied in iCloud, both backup copies and documents and data from specific applications such as Pages, Notability, Mail, Whatsapp, etc.
  2. At the top, in the "Copies" section, you will see the backup copies stored in iCloud. If you have more than one copy of iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, you will also see that one of them says, for example, "This iPhone."
  3. Click on the backup where it does NOT say "This iPhone", or "This iPad".
  4. Then click on «Delete copy».
  5. In the pop-up menu, confirm by pressing «Deactivate and delete»

CLEVER!!! Did you occupy for example 7,2 GB? Well, you already have 7,2GB free storage in iCloud. Easy huh?
