Nope, cover your Mac's camera with elegance

One of the problems that have been arising for a long time on Macs and other devices is security in reference to the privacy of users with webcam that have been installed of fabric. At first, these webcams do not have to have any problem and obviously they do not have to be activated if the user does not require it, but there are already some cases of malware on the network that activate the webcams embedded in electronic devices.

To avoid this possible intrusion into our privacy, various types of solutions can be used with tapes or papers that cover the camera embedded in the Macs on top, but aesthetically it is not something that looks good. Ananda Svarupa Das and his small group of collaborators who perform tasks as volunteers with students in the United States thought of creating something to keep the privacy of young people safe and therefore they set out to find funding on Kickstarter.

The Nope, which is the name of this 'small cap' that covers the camera of your Mac, consists of a small circular magnet that rotates as if it were a planet around the sun. In no case does it break the aesthetics of our Mac, iPad or any other device in which it is wanted to use thanks to its thinness (0,8mm) and design, in addition allows the MacBook Air to be perfectly closed which is really thin on the cam part. The small part of the Nope is attached to the Mac by means of the typical 3M tape and the other part is the one that by means of the magnet allows us to cover and uncover the webcam as it suits us.

It is an interesting idea that offers additional peace of mind in terms of user privacy. The project has already reached the goal to be brought into production thanks to the backers of Kickstarter and if you are one of those who may be interested in this project you just have to invest U.S. dollar 5 plus $ 2 shipping costs if you live outside the US, to get yours.

First you say it goes with magnet, then duct tape ...

      Hi Carlitos,

is that it is so but I correct the article a bit so that it is better understood. The magnet is so that you can turn one of the circular parts and the tape so that the smaller part is attached to the Mac.

      Regards!
