Although "Hey Siri" is only available on the 2018 MacBook Pro, if we refer to Macs, in the last hours American media have informed us of the possibility of communicating with Siri without actually pressing its key to invoke it, also on iMac Pro.
It was a possibility, because both teams have a common hardware, the T2 chip from Apple. This option, available in iMac Pro, is not a programming error that has been left in macOS Mojave, but rather a function confirmed by Apple in the last few hours. We will see how it works.
To start with, let's see what equipment is available:
- 15-inch MacBook Pro, 2018
- 13-inch MacBook Pro from 2018 with four Thunderbolt 3 ports.
- iMacPro.
It is true that Siri should advance more on the Mac, on what has been achieved so far. Should be more productive, to perform complex tasks for us. It really has to do with the workflow we carry out. For complementary functions, such as opening a certain folder, raising or lowering the volume or asking them to call a contact, it is more than enough.
Adding Hey Siri to Macs can go a long way with Adding HomeKit to your Mac. Now instructing Siri to turn off the light, turn on the air conditioning, among many other functions, will be very fast and easy, directly speaking to the Mac.
Siri technology allows it, because in the iOS version it has a great advantage. From the iPhone 6s is available the option of "Hey Siri" directly speaking to the phone. It has since made its way to the Apple Watch, iPad, and HomePod, before reaching the Mac. Maybe a version of iOS Shortcuts, where you can create custom instructions and executed from the Apple assistant, it would be a more than significant advance, even if it is in macOS 15
