Although it is no longer the top-selling company in consumer computing equipment, Apple was the only global supplier to has seen its sales grow during the last quarter of 2015 according to the reports of the Gartner consultancy. In general, if we take into account all suppliers and manufacturers, it is roughly estimated that shipments for sale of equipment have generally decreased by 8,3% in this quarter, remaining at 288,7 million units.

According to Mikako Kitagawa, Principal Analyst at Gartner, this last quarter of 2015 is already the fifth consecutive decline in shipments of equipment around the world in terms of consumer computing, since Christmas sales have failed to increase global shipments, alluding to the changes in consumer buying behavior of these equipment. On the other hand in the business market, Windows 10 in general has received positive reviews, but as expected, the migration to Windows 10 has been less in the fourth quarter, as many organizations still have it in a trial period.

All regions have seen a decrease in shipments. It is thought that it may be due, in addition to changes in consumer purchasing preferences, to the devaluation of the currency that continues to affect the market in EMEA, Latin America and Japan. Collectively these markets have reduced their shipments to 10 percent in 2015 if we compare it with previous quarters.

Gartner's outlook for equipment sales in 2016 is a decrease of 1 percent compared to 2015, with the possibility of a recovery at the level of software sales at the end of 2016. On the other hand, if we look at Apple's shipments for this last quarter, we see how they have grown by 2,8% year after year to ratio of 5.675.000 units, which translates into 7,5 percent of the total market.
