Apple long ago announced the intention to compete at the Hollywood awards with the productions it plans to carry out. In order to do so, the films must have previously passed through the cinemas. On the Rocks, the film directed by Sofia Coppola and starring Bill Murray it has just been released in theaters in the United States.
Due to the pandemic caused by the coronavirus, On the Rocks will only be released in the United States, and it opens 3 weeks before its launch on Apple TV +. This is not the first collaboration between the director and the actor, being Lost in Translation, the first film on which they collaborated and with which Sofia won the award for best original screenplay and Bill Murray an Oscars nomination.

On the Rocks tells the story of a young New York mother and writer who faces doubts about her marriage when her husband starts working late with a new partner. She asks her father for help, a real playboy, to follow her husband in a bittersweet comedy about dating relationships.
The film is a collaboration between Apple and the A24 film studio and has been written, directed and produced by Sofia Coppola, and also features Bill Burray from Rashida Jones and Marlon Wayans. Another of Apple's collaborations with this production company is the documentary Boys Stlate.
