OpenEmu for OS X is updated and made compatible with Nintendo 64 and other platforms

OpenEmu is an application that, as its name suggests, does the times of emulator so that we can play retro titles within OS X in addition to being an open source application that is available through the Github platform as we told you in a previous article.

Now it has just been updated to version 2.0.1 with a redesigned user interface, more real-time gameplay options, checkpoint saving and a screenshot manager, plus support for 16 additional systems including Nintendo 64, Playstation 1, PSP and a lot of other systems that will surely sound familiar to many of you and to other "younger" users not so much, this being an opportunity to revive great classics.

OpenEmu was designed specifically for OS X with an iTunes-like layout that groups the ROMs of the systems in a unified menu with a card design, as you can see in the image above, organized by each of the game platforms. The emulator also offers full compatibility with saving games, it also allows you to play multiple ROMs at the same time, scaled with OpenGL, a homebrew collection with more than 80 games, gamepad support and much more.

OpenEmu 1.0 was released in December 2013, with support for various 16-bit systems, including Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, Game Gear, NeoGeo Handheld, NES, Sega Genesis, and Super Nintendo. The emulator is also compatible with various controllers, including those for Nintendo, PlayStation as well as those for Xbox and practically any compatible generic USB HID or Bluetooth gamepad.
